The 2025 RAM 2500 provides exceptional power and advanced engineering.

What’s new for the 2025 model year? Many RAM heavy-duty pickup Thibodaux buyers choose the diesel engine, but RAM has replaced the standard 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel engine with the 6.7L Cummins High-Output Turbo Diesel engine. However, the gas-powered 6.4L HEMI® V8 continues to be the base engine in the 2025 RAM 2500.

Keep reading to explore the 2025 RAM 2500 Cummins specs and how more powerful this engine is compared to the HEMI® V8. From the 2025 RAM 2500 horsepower to the 0-60 times, let’s examine the diesel specs with its gas-powered counterpart.

2025 RAM 2500 Gas Engine Specs: The 6.4L HEMI® V8

At the heart of the 2025 RAM 2500 lies the renowned 6.4L HEMI® V8 engine. See the specs below:

  • Horsepower: 405 hp @ 5,600 rpm
  • Torque: 429 lb-ft of torque @ 4,000 rpm
  • Maximum Engine Speed: 5,800 rpm
  • Compression Ratio: 10.0:1
  • Fuel Requirement: Unleaded, regular, 87 octane
  • Oil Capacity: 7.0 quarts (6.6 liters)
  • Coolant Capacity: 16.6 quarts (15.75 liters)
  • Maximum Trailer Weight Rating: 17,750 pounds

2025 RAM 2500 Diesel Specs: The 6.7L Cummins High-Output Turbo Diesel I6

Boasting 1,075 lb-ft of torque, the 2025 RAM 2500 Cummins specs will take you further on the Paradis roads. See how the inline 6 engine compares to the 6.4L HEMI® V8 in terms of the 2025 RAM 2500 horsepower specs and more:

  • Horsepower: 430 hp @ 2,800 rpm
  • Torque: 1,075 lb-ft of torque @ 1,800 rpm
  • Maximum Engine Speed: 3,200 rpm (maximum high-idle engine speed)
  • Compression Ratio: 16.2:1
  • Fuel Requirement: Ultra-low sulfur diesel
  • Oil Capacity: 12.0 quarts (11.3 liters) w/ filter
  • Coolant Capacity: 23.8 quarts (22.5 liters)
  • Maximum Trailer Weight Rating: 20,000 pounds

While the new 6.7L Cummins engine only improves on the 2025 RAM 2500 horsepower specs of the 6.4L HEMI® by about 25 ponies, the former is a diesel-powered engine and achieves this with far lower engine speeds (5,600 rpm for the HEMI® versus 2,800 rpm for the Cummins). Therefore, the 6.7L Cummins is more powerful than the HEMI® V8, especially when dealing with intense projects around Hahnville.

The latest Cummins diesel engine also improves the RAM 2500 0-60 times, pushing it down to 6.9 seconds from 8.0 seconds in the 2024 model year.

As you can see, the 6.7L Cummins provides huge towing power with the RAM 2500 and quickens pickup.
